歌詞は、生きることに苦痛を感じる人間について綴られているように思える。人と関わること、人に自分を知られること、自分が社会の一員であることなどへの嫌悪感、また自己嫌悪や厭世的思想などについても語られている。生を拒絶する人間について
Silpknot のファンサイトでは、この歌詞の意味を以下のように解釈している。Diluted is a song written about a person who is incapable of continuing living. Others haunt them, and themselves, and may have to deal with emotional problems such as MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder), and Schizophrenia. Or maybe he's just extremely depressed. Either way, the lyrics are more than relatable.訳：
『Diluted』は、生き続けることに困難を感じる人間についての曲だ。他の連中は、そんな彼らを絶えず付け回し、彼らの心に踏み込むことで、多重人格障害や統合失調症、もしくは酷いうつ病のような精神的な問題への対処が必要になることがある。どちらにせよ、この歌詞は、語るには余りあることを述べている。
